The Citizens Awaits The Construction Of The Lungi Bridge

The Lungi Bridge is an infrastructural project announced by the new governance administration led by president Bio, as one of their priority area of development leading to economic diversification, it is about 8km bridge from abutment to abutment that will link the capital Freetown to it's only international airport in Lungi.

It was initially announced to be a 6 lane bridge, with 3 lanes in each direction but the chairman of the Presidential initiative on infrastructure, Dr Tambi speaking in an interview on Friday June 26, said the project had now been revised to be 4 lanes altogether, this self paying bridge was estimated to cost from $1.8 billion to 2.1 billion dollars with a potential of raising $11 billion in the next 25 years. Dr Tambi also in an interview informed that despite the ongoing fight against the Corona Virus pandemic the engagement with the builders of the bridge are at an advanced stage that the much anticipated 4 to 6 years Lungi - Freetow


n bridge project will commence by the third quarter of this year.
