51 Youth In Remains In Makeni Detention Over Generator Riot
The generator issue in Makeni got about 51 Youth in trouble as they were arrested in Makeni for attacking government officials on orders to relocate a government owned property Makeni to Lungi community in Sierra Leone, the people arrested have stayed over 10 days in detention without bail, which includes 51 youth including 12 juveniles both male and females were all arrested in Makeni following the generator riot, they are still in detention at the criminal investigation department (C.I.D) one of their lawyers (Warra serry kamal) said the detention period has exceeded the 72 hours recommended by law for minor offense as such, and even has exceeded 10 days period for major crime.
Following up with the police and detainees, we want to assured the public that the detainees are in good health "she mentioned” also said that we shall take further legal actions if they are not released or charged soonest, meanwhile the bodies of those killed by alleged security officials are still at the Connaught mortuary in Freetown Sierra Leone.
