Coalition Of Fullah Youths In Sierra Leone (COFYSL) Fight Against Covid19

Coalition Of Fullah Youths In Sierra Leone (COFYSL)!

Background: The Coalition Of Fullah Youths In Sierra Leone comprises various Fullah Youth organisations across the 16 districts in Sierra Leone which merge together to form a single body to embark on a project in raising awareness about the Covid 19 in complementing the efforts of both the government of S/L and the stake holders within the Fullah Community In curtailing the spread of the Covid 19 in Sierra Leone, and to also raise fund and resources in providing food items and other Covid19 related items for the needy and the poor in the wake of the Holy Month Of Ramadan.  Most importantly, the coalition is fully in readiness to serve as an auxiliary for any of the bigger Fullah Umbrella Organisations, and Stakeholders within the Fullah Community in executing their functions once it’s related  to the Sensitisation Of the Covid19 and anything that has to do with the Holy Month Of Ramadan.

Rationale For the Proposed Project:
The primary focus of the coalition is to embark on an emergency engagement with communities at district level for Behavioural Change to curtail and end the wide spread of the Covid 19 in S/L. There is no gain saying that currently,  people do not go to the masjid to observe their five daily prayers which has made it very difficult for religious leaders to reach out to their religious followers in sensitising them about the Covid 19. It’s evident that Fullah People, especially those in the provinces, are people who easily like to welcome strangers, especially their family members, friends and loved ones, so it’s of every essence that they are being cautioned about the negative effect of such behaviour. Also, many of our local people are yet to believe the existence of the Corona Virus or yet to fully understand the necessary precautionary measures of the said Virus. So having Fullah Youths being trained by the MOHS’ Staffs to sensitise them in our local language will yield a greater dividend and it’s certain that they will listen to their Fullah Sons and Daughters than any other tribesman. So basically the rationale behind this project is to use one tribesman to sensitise  her/his fellow tribesman about the Covid 19. The Coalition has also contacted Our Fullah Super Stars like LAJ, Dallas B, Young Sal and others to do a Sensitisation song in Fullah about the Covid 19.

Also, it’s sacrosanct that during the holy month  of RaMadan many people due to their Financial Statuses have accustomed to break their fasts at the masjid or at the houses of Wealthy People, but with the wake of the Covid19 it’s most likely that such practice won’t be observed in this Year’s holy Month Of Ramadan. Due to the aforementioned coupled up with the current economic crises in the Country, The Coalition thought it wise to also embark on an Emergency fund raising for the poor and the needy so that they will be in better footing to observe the holy month of Ramadan.

Raising Of Fund And the Required Resources:

The coalition has already started the ball rolling by internally raising fund among its membership at district level for the purpose of the said project. Every district has a team of coordinators that are responsible to coordinate and raise fund within their districts. Every district team of coordinators is responsible to engage community members and stakeholders within their districts in raising fund for the project. Each fund raised by the district Coordinators would be used for the purpose of that district, save for districts that could not meet their targets or required urgent help or have extreme situations.
But however, such is not enough therefore the coalition is kindly asking and seeking the help of the Fullah Community both home and abroad to join hands on deck to help facilitate the said project. No amount of donation is little!
